JoAnn-Chapter 3-Scripture: The parts that struck me the must. . . Studying scripture and listening to God's Word with an open heart, the Holy Spirit can change us, but only if we choose to allow it. We cannot withhold some parts of ourselves . . . if we truly want God to change us, every part of ourselves must be open to change. It is always our choice! The author wrote that Catholic Church places [the Bible alongside the most Holy Eucharist as our true bread of life: the Church "unceasingly receives and offers to the faithful the bread of life from the table both of God's Word and of Christ's body."] That is a powerful statement and one to ponder. The Eucharist is our source, center and summit. And, the power of the Holy Spirit comes through the holy Word, the Bible, as source and food. He further states..."the force and power in the Word of God is so great that it stands as the support and energy of the Church, the strength of faith for her Son, the food of the soul, the pure and everlasting source of spiritual life." Yes, scripture is another treasure that God has gifted us with to help us on our journey to holiness. Lord, help me to value the treasure of Your holy Scripture and help me to allow the Holy Spirit to guide me, change me, and help me grow as I study Your Word. JoAnn
